Community Service

Algirdas Makarevicius. Community Service

Community service is voluntary work meant to serve people in a particular, demanding area. Apart from teaching, I motivated students to read the internet and library materials extensively and develop their reading culture. I conducted extensive reading sessions in the library, established various English learning clubs, such as the Public Speaking Club, and helped edit articles in college English journals and newspapers.

After consulting and helping people in different parts of the world, I wanted to make my knowledge and expertise available to teachers and students worldwide. For this purpose, I designed a non-profit website, "ESL Teacher Reference Desk." On this website, I published reliable information for ESL teachers, tutors, lecturers, and ESL students so that they could make the best out of their profession: take a look at reality from diverse perspectives, create their own professional drive and passion with confidence, find reliable, verified solutions and drive quality results in their teaching profession.

'The ESL Teacher Reference Desk's website gives a person with ESL qualifications a unique opportunity to succeed to achieve maximum career results.  It also serves as a reference desk for those teachers with ESL qualifications who want to change their profession and to succeed in other businesses, i.e., to shift from ESL teaching to jobs or businesses that can be successfully performed by persons with ESL qualifications and with teaching experience. ESL teachers usually have training and skills in demand in various jobs and industries.

I extended my voluntary aid to the following people and organizations.
