Dr. Algirdas Makarevicius has extensive experience in socio-cultural environments relevant to his work. He initially studied and worked in Europe before benefiting from Australia’s academic environment and general lifestyle. He later lectured and conducted research in a different cultural and linguistic context in Papua New Guinea. From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Makarevicius taught ESL at Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus. He then spent five rewarding years in China, gaining insight into local culture, lifestyle, and teaching approaches in schools and universities.
From 2006 to 2009, Dr. Makarevicius served as Head of the Languages Center at the Middle East College in Oman, where he taught ESL, handled administrative duties, designed programs, and developed materials. From September 2009 to August 2014, he worked as an associate professor of linguistics in the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Nizwa.
